Sea change to hell of a change, laws in Tassie

My wife and 3 young kids and I move to Tasmania for work, we could not look at the property before we rented, but we found a great place in Verona Sands, we looked at photos and talked with the agent who stated it was very suitable house.

Well when we arrived the house was a mess, rubbish including broken bottles and engine parts in the back yard, struts on stair case missing, doors missing or not working and no rubbish bin, spoke with the agents from Your Home Reality and they said they would fix the problems, We also discovered that the property was brought by a woman who works for the real estate agent and put the property in her son's name

They then tell us they were confused as they thought their was rubbish collection but there is not.

We were never told the house was not on mains water and on arrival the tanks were near empty and the down pipes where not connected to the tanks. After running out of water on Xmas day they decided to fix things.

The back yard was checked and it was found the sewage had been leaking into the back yard for at least 10 years and it was a health issue, they moved us out for a week into a place no bigger then a grannie flat which our phones did not work.

We decided that we wanted out of our lease, they stated the costs even though they have miss leading us. Spoke with tenants union who stated that Tasmania has the weakest laws in Australia and there is nothing they could do.

I have had people coming through the house with no notice and I am at breaking point

If you ever move to Tasmania which is incredible be mindful of the weak laws and a dodgy agency called Your Home Reality who have changed their name twice in the last couple of years
